Not Your Usual Icicle

Light meter on the south side of a house at Germantown
Hills, Illinois, on December 18th, 2008, after icy weather hit the area.
I don't remember seeing an icicle form this way before, but here it is, frozen sideways. Since it's on, and not "next to" the meter, I don't suppose we can call it a
by-cicle
Other ice pictures...

Bough down...

A closer view of the iceclad
limb. Without the ice, the height of the fartherest tip of the the oak
branch is about 14 feet off the ground.
Some of its fall leaves are still clinging to it...
As if gloved in ice, here's a hand catching cold...

Another view of the branch down, boughed but unbroken...

But not all the branches were so lucky...
